DETROIT — A Detroit Police officer died while on duty Wednesday, the department announced.
Sgt. Kevin Miller, a 29-year-veteran, was a member of the 11th Precinct and had been part of several units in his career, police said in a brief statement.
Though police did not release the cause, a department spokeswoman, Officer Shanelle Williams, said that Miller was not injured or killed.

“Certainly, this is an unforeseen tragedy and our hearts are grieved,” the statement said. “The Detroit Police Department extends our deepest sympathy to his family and ask that you would keep us all in your prayers.”
Police did not release further details on Wednesday.
