AGAWAM, Mass. — An Agawam police officer helped deliver one of the first New Year’s babies in the state early Friday when he responded to a house call just a woman in labor, according to Agawam police.
The officer, Zack Hall, responded to the scene just before 3 a.m. Finding the woman well into labor and without time for a trip to the hospital, he helped with the delivery.
“Officer Hall quickly responded and helped mom deliver this healthy baby girl,” according to a post on the Agawam Police Facebook page. “Congratulations, Mom, Dad, and baby Sophia!”
The post was accompanied by a photo of a beaming Hall holding baby Sophia.
The name of the family, or where they lived in Agawam, was not disclosed.
