CONCORD, Calif. — An off-duty Oakland police officer was found dead late Saturday afternoon in Concord after the motorcycle he was riding apparently ran off a road, according to authorities.
The officer, identified by Oakland police as Stanley Mock, 38, of Clayton, was found with his motorcycle about 5:30 p.m. by a passer-by near the entrance to the Cal State East Bay Concord campus, according to the Concord Police Department.
Mock apparently was riding his motorcycle south on Campus Drive toward Pine Hollow Road when the vehicle went off the road and hit a tree, police said.
Police do not know what caused the accident, when it occurred or how long Mock had been lying on the side of the road before he was found.
