Vehicle concealment, officer’s request for feedback

In response to our recent P1 report on vehicle concealment locationsSix Vehicle Concealment Alerts Shared By P-1 Members, we received a request for insight into a suspicious switch.

Officer Jason Kaveney with the Eau Claire (WI) PD writes:

“I recently attended a drug interdiction course and gained some valuable information on hidden compartments in vehicles. I have been locating things I wouldn’t have looked twice at before. “I recently had an arrest where I located a suspicious switch in a Cadillac. This vehicle is in our area and is driven by some well-known drug dealers. After arresting a passenger for a warrant I located this switch next to the fuse panel, which is easily accessed by the driver.

“It obviously does something but I could not figure out what, so I took some pictures. The driver of this vehicle is a convicted felon and has prior carrying concealed weapon and drug traffic charges. I am guessing he has gone to extreme measures to hide things in his car. “Any suggestions would be helpful. I know I will deal with the driver/vehicle again...”

Do you know how this switch might work and/or what it might do?
If so, please drop us an e-mail.
