TULSA, Oklahoma — Tulsa Police’s Special Operations Team to get five new battering rams thanks to students at Oklahoma Technical College.
Students worked with the department to design and fabricate the new metal rams.
“It’s a privilege to be partnering with the Tulsa Police department in this way,” said Charles Griffin Welding Technology Department Head at OTC. “It’s an excellent opportunity for the students to be recognized for their skill and their dedication to their industry and their community.”
Griffin says the school used material donated by several Tulsa fabrication shops, constructing the rams using 80 4-foot pipe and 5/8 steel plate.
Tulsa Police working with OTC said they were impressed with the integrity of the welds and the design.
The students will officially present the new battering rams to TPD on Friday.
