Mike McHenry

Captain Mike McHenry began his career with the San Clemente Police Department as a patrol officer in 1989. He was assigned a police canine in 1992 and transitioned to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) in 1993. With the OCSD, Captain McHenry’s duty assignments included patrol, custody, information technology, and juvenile and adult general investigations. Captain McHenry promoted to lieutenant in 2010 and to captain in 2021, during which time he served as a jail watch commander, IGSA contract manager and transportation bureau commander. Captain McHenry is presently assigned as the bureau commander for the Central Justice Center courthouse.

Captain McHenry has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from National University and an associate degree from Irvine Valley College. He is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute Class #157 and California POST Command College Class #66. Captain McHenry is an associate instructor for Santa Ana College and has lectured at several national, state and local conferences.
