Local cop news with Capt. Mike Williams: 01.12.06 report

Ohio:
A man opened fire on two officers who pulled him over, hitting one in the face.

California:
Suspect charged in police killing. Officer’s widow in front row at court hearing.

New York:
Killer – “I had that cop outgunned”.

Pennsylvania:
Pittsburgh’s police face more guns.

Homewood man charged with shooting officer. Police say victim, an 11-year veteran, expected to recover.

Oregon:
Family tries to understand police shooting. Relatives of Dennis Lamar Young are perplexed by the killing of the unarmed man by police.

Canada:
Mugs and T-shirts made by police was ‘macho stupidity’
Note from Capt. Williams: Again, I mention the fact that “trophy” photos, t-shirts, mugs and the like will come back to bite you in the rear later. Although fun at the time such things are, in my opinion unprofessional and distasteful to the general public. You will see such things in the media and in court later should legal action be initiated and plaintiff’s attorney finds out about them. They probably won’t seem as funny under those circumstances.

Texas:
A Travis County Grand Jury has decided not to indict seven Austin police officers in the death of a man who was stunned with a Taser.

Massachusetts:
Police fatally shoot teen driving car wildly.

New York:
35-year-old officer racing to call collapses, dies.
