(BOURNE, Mass.) -- Richard D. Chausse of Bourne, a retired Boston police captain, died Saturday at the Brewster Manor Nursing Home. He was 84.
Born in Boston, Mr. Chausse had a 34-year career with the Boston Police Department, reaching the rank of captain before his retirement in 1976.
He was a World War II veteran, having served as a colonel in the Army Reserve Medical Service Corps.
He was a member of the Bourne-Wareham Art Association, a charter member of the Saints and Singers Chorus, a member and past skipper of the Tide Club of Bourne and a member of the Aleppo Temple.
Mr. Chausse is survived by his wife, Anita D. (Zepp); a daughter, Cynthia J. Smith of Bourne; and two sisters, Jean Abrahamson of Holbrook and Mary Publicover of Braintree.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
