A 39-year-old Cahokia man was arrested on a weapons charge after he shouted profanity at some agents with the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Drug Tactical Unit.
Dwayne R. McLemore of 44 E. Adams St. in Cahokia was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. He was held at the St. Clair County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
On Wednesday, two agents with the unit were conducting surveillance of drug and gang activity in Cahokia.
“One of the subjects being watched did not know the agents were undercover officers,” sheriff’s Sgt. Thomas Trice said. “He continued to block traffic and curse at the agents as the agents drove by. They jumped out of the car wearing raid vests that indicated they were members of the Drug Tactical Unit.”
Trice added, “Two subjects ran. The agents caught them and explained to them their behavior was illegal.
While patting down the suspects, agents found a .38-caliber handgun.
