TEMPE, Ariz. — Tempe police tweeted a photo that showed chivalry is not dead, CBS 5 reported.
Police believe a man stole a truck to pick up his girlfriend from jail, but instead ended up in jail too, Lt. Michael Pooley told the publication.
An officer spotted the truck on Nov. 30 with a license plate-reader as the truck pulled into the police headquarters’ parking lot.
“It was right below my office, so we ran down and helped take the guy into custody,” Pooley told CBS 5. “"And then we found out the driver was coming to the jail to pick up his girlfriend, who was arrested last week.”
The truck was stolen from a hotel the night before. The man, Miguel Redshirt, told officers he was borrowing the truck.
The girlfriend, Lavina Jackson, was arrested after a fight with Redshirt on Thanksgiving. The couple is in custody.
