LAS VEGAS — A 7-year-old boy is travelling to as many police departments as he can to say thank you to his favorite heroes: police officers, People reported.

After Weslee Berger was taken to a police procession for a fallen officer in his hometown of Payson, Utah, he found a mission.

“He equates them to Batman a little, I think,” said Valerie Berger to People, Weslee’s mother.

Weslee now can’t see a police officer without saying hello and thank you, she said.

Valerie said she hopes officers feel happy knowing a 7-year-old and others know they’re the true heroes.

“I wanted to say ‘thank you’ because there are so many officers getting hurt,” Wesslee tells People. “I’ve always liked police. They’re the ones keeping us safe.”

Weslee just recently finished a trip to thank police officers in Las Vegas, according to FOX 5.

It’s really touching to have someone, especially as young as Wesslee, just 7 years old, wanting to go out and say thank you. It makes us feel really special to know that people out there do care about us and do appreciate us,” said Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chelsea Stuenkel to FOX5.

Weslee plans on visiting as many stations as he can before school starts again, People reported.

“It might take me a year to visit them all, but I’m going to try,” he says. “They help fight the bad guys and deserve to be told they’re doing a good job.”
