WASHINGTON — Amid White House tension, the Fraternal Order of Police has issued a statement in support of Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

“The FOP enthusiastically welcomed the nomination of Jefferson B. Sessions III to be our nation’s Attorney General,” the union said in a press release. “We are gratified by the energy and resolve with which he has pursued the President’s agenda and for his decisions of unwavering support for law enforcement.”

The police union, which represents over 330,000 law enforcement officers, said they “look forward to a continued partnership with President Trump and Attorney General Sessions and we look forward to working with them on their public safety agenda.”

According to the Associated Press, President Donald Trump has become increasingly frustrated with Sessions after the Attorney General recused himself from the Russia investigation. He has spoken with advisors about potentially firing Sessions.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Trump wrote that Sessions “has taken a VERY weak position on Hillary Clinton crimes (where are E-mails & DNC server) & Intel leakers!”
