UTICA, NY — A 21-year-old central New York man has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for fatally shooting his 3-month-old son in front of state troopers.
Oneida (oh-NY'-duh) County prosecutor Scott McNamara says 21-year-old Adam Theall (theel) of Rome swore at him and two of the people who spoke during the sentencing in a Utica courtroom Thursday morning.
Theall pleaded guilty in September to second-degree murder for shooting his son outside his parents’ home in rural Blossvale on June 22. He admitted in court that he was high on drugs when he grabbed a loaded shotgun and confronted state police who were responding to a domestic disturbance report.
Theall was shot more than a dozen times by troopers when he refused to put down the weapon after shooting his son.
