MARION COUNTY, Fla. — After one of his own deputies was found dead in his home from suicide, Sheriff Billy Woods is urging others to get help.
Woods announced in a video posted to Facebook that police were called to the scene of a suicide Wednesday morning and found Deputy Adam Rendall dead in his home. Rendall joined the department in 2004.
“I am shocked and saddened by this news. Those of you that have lost a loved one to suicide know the pain and sadness it brings to those who knew that person,” Woods said.

Woods pushed others who are struggling with their mental health to reach out for help and provided the number to the National Suicide Prevention Hotline and the National Law Enforcement Officer Hotline on the screen.
“I want to let everyone know that there is help available to you if you are at a point that you are contemplating taking your life,” he said. “Here at the sheriff’s office, we have an employee assistance program to provide these services to our own when they reach out for help. So I would encourage you to please reach out for help if you find yourself at a place in life that you need help.”
