BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A McDonald’s employee has been charged for allegedly tampering with a police officer’s food.
In a press release obtained by ABC 23, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office says footage from the restaurant shows the employee tampering with the food. According to the KCSO, based on the footage, her actions appeared to be intentional.
It has not been released what Tatyana Hargrove allegedly did to the food. The Bakersfield Police Department confirmed to The Bakersfield Californian that a Bakersfield police officer was involved in the incident.
“I want to ensure our customers and law enforcement that the behavior exhibited by the individual involved in this incident does not represent my values nor those of my McDonald’s business,” said the McDonald’s owner, Jim Abbate, in a statement sent to Fox News. “When we found out about this disturbing incident, we quickly notified the police. We are cooperating with their investigation and want law enforcement to know they are always welcome at McDonald’s.”
The Bakersfield Californian reports that Hargrove filed a lawsuit against the BPD in 2017 after two police officers mistook her for a male suspect and she was bitten by a police dog. She sued the department in federal court alleging excessive force and civil rights violations. In October, the jury ruled against Hargrove.
