MINEOLA, N.Y. — Police and relatives of a New York teenage rabbinical student who was found beaten to death in his dormitory in 1986 are renewing efforts to crack the murder mystery.
Officials in Nassau County on Long Island said Tuesday they are increasing the reward for information leading to the arrest of Chaim Weiss’s killer to $25,000.
Weiss was 15 when he was found bludgeoned to death at a religious school in Long Beach in November 1986.
Since the start of the investigation, police have said they found very few clues that might lead them to a killer.
Police said Tuesday they hope renewed publicity could jog someone’s memory of what may have happened.
The boy’s father, Anton Weiss, also appealed at the press conference for someone to come forward.
