HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Police in Dauphin County released dramatic surveillance photos Tuesday of serial bank robbery suspects.

The suspects were caught by the security cameras at the Commerce Bank in the 6000 block of Allentown Boulevard, also known as Route 22, in Lower Paxton Township. The bank was robbed just before closing time on Friday night.

Late Tuesday afternoon, police confirmed the two men may be wanted for up to eight bank robberies dating back to December 2001. In Dauphin County, they are suspected of two robberies in suburban Harrisburg and a third in the borough of Dauphin. They are also suspects in two robberies in Cumberland County, two in Lebanon County and one in Berks County.

The pictures (slideshow, left) show one of the suspects jumping over the counter at the Commerce Bank on Friday night. Then, another picture shows the other suspect holding a gun to customers and staff at the bank, while the first suspect collects the cash.

The pair then ran out of the bank and jumped into a light-colored car and sped off. The suspects are described as black males, wearing jeans and hooded sweat shirts, and police said there is a pattern in these robberies.

“Modus Operandi is pretty similar in all of these robberies. They’re what we call takeover robberies -- where one individual leaps over the counter, while the other one keeps customers and employees at bay in the lobby,” Detective Mark Brumaghim said.

No one was hurt in any of the robberies. Investigators will meet Wednesday to discuss the individual cases.

Meanwhile, anyone with information about the Commerce Bank Robbery is asked to call 657-5656. Dauphin County Crimestoppers is offering a reward for any information leading to an arrest in this case.
