MILWAUKEE — A decorated Iraq War veteran accused of fatally shooting his wife, a suburban Milwaukee police officer, has waived his preliminary hearing.
Thirty-year-old Benjamin G. Sebena is scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 24 on a first-degree intentional homicide charge in the killing of 30-year-old Jennifer Sebena.
He was brought into court Thursday in a wheelchair and a suicide-prevention vest.
Sebena is accused of ambushing his wife while she patrolled alone in Wauwatosa in the predawn hours of Christmas Eve. Prosecutors say he shot her multiple times in the head, and that he told investigators he was jealous.
Ben Sebena said little during Thursday’s hearing. Defense attorney Michael Steinle did not comment.
Sebena is being held on $1 million cash bail. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps in 2005.
