PORT RICHEY — A jealous husband attacked his wife and son with a bat early Friday, then impaled himself with a knife after deputies used a Taser to subdue him, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.
The husband, Tracy George, 43, of 6411 Stone Road, wound up in the hospital, where he underwent surgery to remove the knife, sheriff’s office spokesman Doug Tobin said.
A sheriff’s office report gave the following account of the incident, which happened about 1 a.m.:
Suspecting his wife of cheating on him, George searched her purse for proof of infidelity and then grabbed her when she tried to leave the bedroom. With a knife in one hand, he covered her mouth with the other, telling her he would kill her if she screamed, the report said.
George held her at knifepoint in the bedroom for 20 to 25 minutes and forcibly removed her clothes at some point. He did not touch her sexually, according to the report.
Kim George, 44, yelled for her 13-year-old daughter to call 911. When the girl picked up a cell phone, the report stated, George pushed her to the floor and held the knife to her throat.
When Kim George went to tell the couple’s 18-year-old son, Tracy Jr., what was going on, her husband followed and hit her with a baseball bat, the report stated.
Seeing his father holding a knife to his mother’s throat, the teen knocked the weapon out of his hand and wrestled him to the floor.
After his son told him to calm down and let him up, though, George went after his wife again. His son punched him in the face, and George retaliated by hitting his son in the head with the bat, the report said.
The boy and his mother ran outside and called 911.
When deputies arrived, George was holding a large knife to his stomach in one hand and a black wooden bat in the other.
He told a deputy he had just lost his entire family, warned him not to come closer and motioned as though he might plunge the knife into his chest, according to the report.
Another deputy arrived and used a Taser to shock George, who lost his balance, fell, and impaled himself on the knife.
“Take it out!” he screamed to the deputies.
George remained at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point on Friday afternoon. Once he is cleared medically, he likely will be arrested, Tobin said.
