Suspects fight, N.C. police use TASERs

STEVE LYTTLE- Traffic stops turned into altercations involving Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers twice overnight, with one officer suffering minor injuries.

Police say the occupant of a vehicle stopped by an officer about 3:15 a.m. hit the patrolman and then attempted to run away. The officer used a taser to stop the suspect, who was hospitalized for treatment of the taser.

The police officer, who was not identified, suffered a bruised face.

The incident happened in the 4400 block of Tuckaseegee Road, near Ashley Road and Interstate-85.

The other incident happened in the 4200 block of Monroe road shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say that when they stopped a vehicle occupied by three people, a passenger in the front of the car jumped from the vehicle and began running away.

A foot chase ensued, and when officers caught the suspect, he began fighting with them. A taser was used on the suspect, who was hospitalized with minor injuries.

Police said they found two handguns in the vehicle.
