VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. — An on-duty Alabama police officer died after suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head Wednesday.
Al.com reports that police and emergency responders received a call about a gunshot wound to the head near police department headquarters. The officer, who was in uniform, was found inside his police cruiser, which was parked behind his wife’s business.
He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Authorities are not releasing his name at this time.
