GREENVILLE, S.C. — A trooper died Tuesday after being involved in a car crash.
WSPA reported that South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Daniel Rebman was parked in an emergency lane in his patrol vehicle when a pickup truck veered outside of its lane and hit the vehicle from behind, according to SCHP.
“It is impossible to put into words how deeply saddened we are by the loss of one of our own in the line-of-duty today,” SCDPS Director Leroy Smith said. “This is a devastating loss for Trooper Rebman’s family, our agency, the law enforcement community and the State of South Carolina. This young trooper died a hero working to protect and serve his community and state.”
Police said they will announce in a few days whether or not files will be charged against the pickup truck driver.
