Duty Death: Evan Burns - [Caruthersville]

CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. — A Caruthersville officer was killed after his patrol car was broadsided by a stolen car Tuesday morning.
Officers Evan Burns and Richard Altice had pulled over a driver for questioning when they saw a stolen SUV exit the highway toward them. They had laid spike strips to stop the incoming vehicle before the suspect hit Altice’s cruiser, injuring him, KFVS reported.The SUV then collided with Burns’ patrol car, and investigators say the 28-year-old officer was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, who was wanted for setting a home on fire, is being held without bond.
