DALLAS — A Dallas police officer was punched, bitten on the hand and nearly choked Saturday night as she tried to arrest a woman in East Oak Cliff, according to police reports.
The police officer was patrolling a neighborhood known for drugs and prostitution when she saw a woman standing near a convenience store in the 3500 block of Bonnie View Road around 9:20 p.m., according to a police report. The woman was standing near a sign that said “No Loitering. No Standing.” The officer ran a background check and found an arrest warrant for prostitution.
When the officer attempted to arrest the woman, she tried to run away, according to a police report. Once the officer caught up to her, the woman tried to grab the officer’s gun and choke her with a wire from the police radio, the report says. The woman bit her on the right hand and punched her in the neck.
After a struggle, the officer pinned the woman down with her body weight until more police arrived.
The names of the police officer and arrested woman are not listed in police reports.
