LAVONIA, Ga. — Two officers conducting a traffic stop Monday were shot when a suspect opened fire.
Both officers were hit by gunfire, the Associated Press reported. The officers were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Khari Anthony Dashaun Gordon, 22, was arrested the same day and charged with multiple counts including attempted murder and assaulting a police officer.
The shooting marked the second time Monday that two Georgia officers were fired upon while on duty. Two Byron officers were wounded while serving a warrant. They are expected to recover.
Last week, Americus Officer Nicholas Smarr and Georgia Southwestern State University Officer Jodi Smith were fatally shot while responding to a domestic dispute.
