A Burbank police officer shot and killed a man Sunday after the man tried to attack him with a knife, officials said.
Shortly after noon, the officer was summoned to the 1600 block of West Victory Boulevard after police received a call about a domestic dispute.
James Weyenberg, 42, apparently had assaulted his wife and tried to assault a neighbor, authorities said.
Weyenberg then tried to attack the officer, Lt. Brian Matthews said.
Weyenberg was pronounced dead at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center.
It was unclear whether the woman was injured during the argument.
The officer was not injured, Matthews said. Police officials said they would not release the officer’s name until they reviewed the incident.
