SAN FRANCISCO — Say what you will about District Attorney George Gascón, his name is certainly getting out there. Last week, a Chicago television station, WLS-TV, listed him among the possible choices to become Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel’s police superintendent.

Oakland Police Chief Anthony Batts was also mentioned as a potential candidate.

Even though Gascón left as police chief before the most recent scandal involving the San Francisco Police Department surfaced, some wondered if a change of scenery would be a good idea.

“Not the case at all,” he texted. “I’m very happy here!”

Note that he even took the time to find the exclamation mark on his keypad.

But that won’t stop the rumors. Another one has Gascón becoming FBI director when the 10-year term of current Director Robert Mueller expires in September. After all, Gascón has a law degree and graduated from the FBI Academy.

Far-fetched? Sure, and you predicted he would go from police chief to district attorney, right?
