COLWYN — The assault allegations against Darby Borough Police Chief Robert Smythe filed by a Colwyn patrol officer may have sparked a new fire, but the friction between the two boroughs over police cooperation has been making heat for a while.
“Our officer was rendering aid and he was assaulted,” said Colwyn council President Tonette Pray. “It’s just a shame that a police officer hurts another police officer.”
Pray said Monday that the Colwyn officer was treated for injuries and has not returned to duty, but declined further comment.
