HUGHSON, Calif. — Two Calif. police officers spent Tuesday running in memory of those who have lost their lives.

According to a press release, Modesto Police Department Detective Sean Dodge and Turlock Police Department Lieutenant Neil Cervenka donned 25 pounds of uniform and equipment during the Honor Run 2018, a 45-mile run in memory of the 17 peace officers and two community service officers from local agencies who gave their lives in the line of duty.

Dodge and Cervenka stopped at six cemeteries during their run to pay respects to the fallen officers. At all 19 gravesites, Dodge and Cervenka announced the officer’s name, saluted and placed a patch from the Peace Officer Memorial Group on the site.

The run took 11 hours to complete and ended at Lakewood Memorial Park, where Dodge and Cervenka honored the three officers who have been buried out of county.
