GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A rookie New Jersey trooper is being praised for his quick actions at a crash.
Trooper Kenneth Minnes was off-duty when he encountered a serious single-vehicle crash on Monday, according to the Courier Post. A passing motorist already removed two people from the smoking car after it struck several trees.
Minnes, with the help of others, moved the injured pair before the car became fully engulfed in flames and noticed a passenger’s arm was bleeding heavily. Minnes used a shirt and a tree branch and applied a makeshift tourniquet.
The victims were later transported to a hospital. The New Jersey State Police praised Minnes’ actions and said despite graduating from the academy just last year, Minnes “displayed the poise of a veteran and his decisive actions helped save the victims’ lives.”
