NEW YORK CITY — Massive crowds showed up to Yankee Stadium on Wednesday to support the NYPD in the wake of the deaths of three officers.
CBS New York reports the ‘True Blue’ celebrity charity softball game was held in honor of fallen officers Brian Moore, Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu — with the proceeds going to the Silver Shield Foundation, the NYC PBA Widows’ and Children’s Fund, and the families of the officers killed in the line of duty.
Stars such as New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan, and former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani competed against NYPD officers in a stadium packed with 17,000 fans.
“Last night was one of the most moving events that I have ever attended. You guys made cops feel good about being cops again,” DEA president Michael Palladino said.
