Invest in a comfortable, well fitting pair of duty gloves. The right pair of gloves will help to protect your hands from everything from cuts and scrapes to skin-on-skin contact with unsavory arrestees. They give you a little extra grip when its time to go hands on, and they enhance your “5%-er” image of an officer who is ready for anything.
Make sure they fit well, the palm surface isn’t slick, and mostly importantly, that you are as proficient with all of your tools, including your firearms, with the gloves as without, which means you need to practice with the gloves on before you make them a part of your daily tactical wear.
Take it from a veteran, gloves are worth the money and the effort.
