DYER BROOK, Maine — A Mars Hill man wanted in connection with a violent domestic assault last month was captured by state police last night.

State police Sgt. Brian Harris said that Chad Walton, 30, was stopped on Interstate 95 in Dyer Brook after troopers Dennis Quint and Doug Franklin pulled over a vehicle in which Walton was a passenger.

Walton fled on foot from the vehicle and attempted to escape into the woods.

After a brief foot chase, he was captured and arrested without further incident.

Walton was then brought to Aroostook County Jail in Houlton and is facing charges of aggravated assault and obstructing report of a crime for his role in the domestic assault on Nov. 20.

Walton allegedly assaulted the female victim so badly that she sought treatment for serious facial injuries at a local hospital.

Troopers were assisted by deputies from the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department and U.S. Border Patrol.
