IOWA CITY, Iowa — An Iowa City police officer has been injured when he was hit by a van as he picked up nails in an intersection.
Police say the officer, whose name hasn’t been released, was taken to a hospital. His condition isn’t immediately known.
A witness, Markie Channon, says the officer’s back was turned to the van, which accelerated, striking the officer. Another witness, Sarah Drea, says the officer was thrown up into the van’s windshield before he fell to the ground.
