XENIA, Ohio- A sexually oriented offender from Huber Heights checked himself out of Miami Valley Hospital ahead of Greene County sheriff’s deputies planning to arrest him for trying to run down a county parks ranger Saturday night.

Until Monday, investigators thought Jaesun Q. Ingles, 27, was in no condition to leave the hospital, where he was taken after crashing his sedan on U.S. 42, south of the Cedarville limits.

“The car was a complete U, it hit so hard,” said Lt. Marty Fellure, commander of the Ohio Highway Patrol post at Xenia. The car had wrapped itself around an object it hit, he said.

Ingles was in the car seen about 11 p.m. Saturday at the site of a minor vehicle crash on Brush Row Road, near Wilberforce University.

The ranger, who was directing traffic at the wreck, spotted evidence of drinking in Ingles’ car and tried to convince the man to stop the car. Instead, Ingles brushed the ranger with his car and then drove “directly at” the ranger, Greene County sheriff’s Capt. Eric Spicer said.

The ranger, whose name was not released, fired two shots into the windshield before Ingles sped away. One passenger jumped out immediately after the shots were fired, and two other passengers jumped out before Ingles crashed.

“Nobody was injured,” Spicer said.

At 11:54 p.m., troopers found Ingles in his wrecked car, suffering from serious head and facial injuries, Fellure said.

Spicer said the passengers from Ingles’ car were apprehended, questioned and released.

Ingles checked out of the hospital Sunday night before authorities were able to bring a charge of felonious assault or realized his injuries were less serious than originally thought.

“We were not informed of his discharge,” Spicer said.

According to Spicer, Ingles has friends in Huber Heights, the Wilberforce area and Springfield.

Ingles is on parole after serving about four years for abduction (the source of the sexually oriented offender classification), burglary and the sale of counterfeit drugs in Greene County, according to court records.

He was also charged last year in Xenia Municipal Court with fleeing, but pleaded guilty to a lesser charge, according to court records.
