DALLAS — The Dallas Police Department released body camera footage showing an officer-involved shooting of a man who fired shots in a parking lot, NBC DFW reported.

One person had sustained a gunshot wound to the face, while the other was armed with a firearm, police said.

Officers issued verbal commands to the armed individual, who refused to comply and fled. Additional officers located the suspect and again gave commands to drop the weapon. When the suspect did not comply, one officer fired, striking the individual.

The suspect dropped the weapon after being shot but continued to struggle with officers as they tried to take him into custody, prompting them to deploy a TASER.

Police said officers provided medical aid until Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel arrived. The person was then transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The individual with the facial gunshot wound was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.

No officers were injured in the incident.

The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office and the Office of Community Police Oversight have been notified. An independent investigation by the DA’s office is underway.
