[Daytona Beach, FL]

Police1 Staff Report
(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.) -- For the second time in four days, a medical condition has caused sheriff’s deputies to crash squad cars.

On Dec. 18 Deputy Howard Wetzel lost control of his car on Clyde Morris Blvd. near Bellevue Ave. The car then crossed over the centerline and collided with an oncoming car. The driver of the other car was not injured, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

The department has declined to file charges against Wetzel because they believe a medical condition caused him to loose control.

Emergency room doctors told investigators that they were unsure of what type of medical condition caused the accident.

On Dec. 15 Deputy William Hinson, suffered a seizure and slammed into a utility pole on his way to work, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Neither deputy was seriously injured.
