TAMPA — The Tampa Bay Area Regional Bomb Squad helped local children who are blind or visually impaired participate in an old Easter tradition with new technology, BayNews9 reported.
Members of the state’s Fire Marshal’s office, FBI, ATF, Tampa police and Hillsborough County Sheriff’s bomb squad worked together to assemble beeping eggs.
The egg assembly has a training benefit as well, explosives enforcement Officer Randall Mattson-Laurent told the news site.
“We have the experience in electronics,” Mattson-Laurent said. “It’s really easy, comes kind of as a natural fit for us to be able to put these together and have the knowledge to put them together.”
The idea originated when an ATF member wanted to help his blind daughter enjoy Easter.
“It’s a really really good feeling to be able to help these children to enjoy the festivities of Easter,” said Sgt. Jarrett Seal from the Tampa Police Department’s Bomb Squad.
The eggs were used at the first ever local egg hunt event for blind children on March 26.
