BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. — A young boy whose money was stolen had his day turned around thanks to several Minnesota officers.
On Thursday, Gracen set up a lemonade stand in a neighborhood in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota and had earned $20, Fox News reports. But the boy’s fortune didn’t last very long.
Gracen’s father, Mark, told KTIS that two junior high students on bikes “drove by his stand and stole $20 out of his cup.”
“Gracen called me up and asked me if he should call the police, and I said that he probably shouldn’t bother them, but I did pray for him over the phone using the verse from Proverbs 6:31 that says whatever the thief steals, he has to pay back sevenfold,” Mark said.
Mark said he kept thinking about his son’s plight and later told Gracen to contact police to see if they could help him out. When Mark arrived home, he saw two Brooklyn Park PD cars in front of the lemonade stand.
An officer told Gracen she was going to replace his stolen $20 and gave it to his father so he could hold on to it. Another officer showed up and asked for 4 cups of lemonade and gave Gracen $5.
Mark said his son made $50 at the end of the day because of the officers. Another officer stopped by the lemonade the next day, he added.
“My wife and I were really blessed. In fact the next day another officer stopped by for lemonade, and she was out there with tears in her eyes thanking him. She couldn’t believe that people would do this for a child. I had tears in my eyes too, that it was so precious that something so little could mean so much,” Mark said.
Gracen said he plans to thank the officers by bringing cookies and a thank you note to the department.
