(TACOMA, Wash.) – Police in Tacoma are seeking donations for a veteran police dog stricken with a mysterious ailment.
Axel, an 8-year-old German shepherd, has an enlarged prostate gland. The city gives handlers who want to provide a home for their retired dogs $500 to help with medical care, but that could be a small fraction of Axel’s expenses.
The dog, who was within a few months of retirement, has been out on the streets for more than four years and is credited with 220 arrests.
Donations are being accepted at any KeyBank branch. The account number is 471211003481.
