SOUTH BEND (AP) ? A 24-year member of the Michigan City, Indiana Police Department was sentenced Tuesday to more than nine years in prison for convictions on federal drug and bribery charges.
Donald Webb Sr., 48, pleaded guilty in June to charges of marijuana and cocaine trafficking, bribery and bankruptcy fraud. Federal Judge Robert Miller sentenced Webb to 115 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release, prosecutors said.
Webb was indicted in March on 17 counts accusing him of using his job to deal drugs, help other drug dealers and provide protection to people operating illegal gambling and liquor establishments.
Michigan City Police tipped off the FBI and state police about Webb in 1998. Webb was removed from the police force following his indictment.
