When leaving your home while off-duty, remember to secure not only your firearm but all your other cop gear as well, including your ballistic vest, ammo, departmental materials, training information, etc. Officers’ homes may be targeted for break-ins because of the kind of gear they can yield. If that stuff lands in the wrong hands, it could prove very dangerous. You definitely don’t want to end up in an encounter with someone who’s wearing your vest, firing your ammo and using your tactics.
