A Nashville police officer and a suspect were shot following a police chase early Monday morning.
Officer Peter Lynch was shot in the leg.
The shooting happened after police tried to stop a car that had the wrong license plates in East Nashville around 3:30 a.m.
At one point the car slowed down enough for a woman to jump out. The woman was arrested shortly afterwards.
Then the driver got out and fled on foot.
The suspect pulled a gun and began shooting, police said.
Both Officer Lynch and the suspect were shot and transported to a local hospital.
Police did not release any details on where the suspect was shot.
