GRAYSON, Ky. (AP) - A Poca, W.Va., man fatally shot himself Wednesday after allegedly robbing a Grayson bank and fleeing on Interstate 64.
Randy Edward Clendenin, 45, robbed Classic Bank at gunpoint shortly after it opened at 9 a.m. He then fled the scene by car and headed east toward Ashland on I-64, police said.
Grayson police pursued Clendenin and initiated a stop near the Kentucky 180 exit, according to Kentucky State Police.
Clendenin ran his car off the road onto an embankment and shot himself with a handgun, police said. Carter County Coroner George Sparks pronounced the man dead at the scene.
An undetermined amount of cash was recovered.
Kentucky State Police and Grayson police were investigating.
