US Seeks Info on Trends in Stolen Property, Impersonators

The Department of Homeland Security, IAIP Directorate, Infrastructure Monitoring, Analysis, and Coordination Branch, is interested in gathering information on trends in stolen or suspicious purchases of official vehicles, uniforms, license plates, and/or first responder equipment that could be used to make someone look “official.”

Impersonations using such vehicles/ uniforms/ equipment could be carried out by terrorists to gain access to sensitive critical infrastructure locations for the purpose of planning or executing terrorist attacks.

Please query your respective State and Local law enforcement agencies to identify reports of stolen/missing items since the beginning of 2003 that fall into any of the below listed categories/descriptions:

  • First-responder uniforms/equipment (e.g. fire protection gear, oxygen breathing apparatus, medical kits, i.e., any items that could make someone look official).
  • Official government or first-responder vehicles (e.g. police car, ambulance, fire truck).
  • Official gas, electricity, cable, phone company or other well-known vendor vehicles.
  • Official/Government license plates.

Please reply to IMAC@leo.gov with information.
