COLUMBUS, Ga. — An HIV-positive suspect is in custody after police said he fled from police, attacked three cops and hit two dogs with a PVC pipe.

Quamae Otrae Bellamy, 27, was seen breaking into a person’s car Saturday, the Ledger-Enquirer reported. The owner pursued Bellamy on foot until Bellamy entered another vehicle.

Inside the car, Bellamy struck the vehicle owner’s dog with a PVC pipe several times, causing the animal’s nose to bleed. He fled again on foot into the backyard of a home where he struck another dog with the pipe.

An officer encountered Bellamy in the backyard and pulled out his TASER. Bellamy struck the officer with the pipe and the officer lost control of the device. The suspect used the less lethal tool on another officer, hitting him in the ankle. The injured officer used a different TASER and struck Bellamy in the neck and groin.

The suspect was subdued and placed in handcuffs. Police said a third officer was bitten by Bellamy while he was in the patrol car. The officer’s skin was broken.

Bellamy was taken to the hospital where officials discovered he was HIV positive. It’s unclear if the officer who was bit was treated.
