KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Chick-fil-A is honoring two officers who were killed in the line of duty over the weekend.
Officer Matthew Baxter was investigating an area with a history of drug activity when he got into a scuffle with Everett Miller, the Associated Press reported. Sgt. Sam Howard responded as backup when they were both shot.
Miller was tracked down by deputies shortly after at a bar where he was arrested. He remains jailed without bond.
Chick-fil-A posted a photo on their Facebook Saturday of a table set with a meal, bible and photos of Baxter and Howard. Employees said they’ll miss the officers’ faces, who came in to eat on a regular basis since 2013.
“We will always have a seat for you. Our prayers are with your families. In blood and in blue ? Forever our Raving Fans,” they wrote.
This is not the first time Chick-fil-A has honored a fallen officer with a permanent seat. In January, an Orange County, Florida, location honored Deputy Norman Lewis with a table. Lewis was killed in motorcycle crash while pursuing Sgt. Debra Clayton’s killer.
