Here’s a creative idea for getting permission to search during a traffic stop. Give it a try ... you’ll be amazed.
Tell your offender/suspect, “Hey you look like an upstanding citizen who pays taxes and is very interested in the community’s safety. Am I right?” Then go into how your agency works off of statistics and how you get grant money based on stats and the number of vehicle searches you conduct.
Play it up like your boss is making you produce numbers to support your grant. While you’re asking, keep looking at your watch like you’re in a hurry and don’t really want to do the search.
