MAPLE RIDGE, British Columbia — The public came to RCMP’s aid after a less lethal launcher and ammunition fell out of an officer’s truck Sunday morning.

According to CBC, police said the 40MM Abrams Airborne Mfg Inc. Less Lethal Multi-Launcher and ammunition fell out of “the insecure back hatch of a truck canopy.” Officials said due to media coverage, a member of the public called to say they recovered the equipment in the area where it originally went missing.

The gas gun and ammunition were returned by Monday afternoon.

Officials said a passing motorist told the driver the latch was open. An investigation into how the equipment initially went missing is ongoing.
