LOS ANGELES — A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy was wounded and a suspect killed in a shooting Monday night, ABC 7 reported.
LA County Sheriff Jim McDonnell said the incident occurred following the stop of a suspicious vehicle. One of the passengers exited the vehicle and produced a gun.
The deputy struggled to remove the weapon from the suspect, but was shot.
The partner deputy then shot the suspect in the upper torso.
The deputy was shot in the forearm and was taken for treatment at a local hospital. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deputy, a 10-year veteran of the department, underwent surgery and is in stable condition.
The investigation of the incident is ongoing, ABC7 reports.
